Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why 3 days?
On Day 1 (‘Feathery’ Fish), we focus on introducing to the students (9th Grade to upcoming 12th Grade) the selective and detailed information about the step-by-step application process to US universities/colleges.
On Day 2 (Fish out of water), we focus on creating a platform where the three fundamental skills (confidence, creativity, and critical thinking) can be enhanced through a wide range of activities (the writing of ‘crazy’ college creative essay prompts, the diving into different sides of the issues the students care about, and the brainstorming of ideas to address the issues they are interested).
On Day 3 (On Board), all of these three skills will come to fruition through the Project Presentation and the exposure to studying-abroad will be stronger with the school fair and inspiring stories from the ‘on-board’ NhaTrang-ese.
2. Who can participate in DO SPEAK! ?
Students from 14 to 18 years old who desire to attend international universities/colleges, both abroad or in Vietnam, and wish to improve their soft skills (confidence, creativity, and critical thinking) can participate in any sessions of the three days.
3. Can I get a certificate of participation?
Certificate will be awarded only if the participant takes part in Day 2.
4. My English is not very good. Can I still participate in the event?
Our team thinks lack of confidence, not bad English command, is the main reason of your problem. Our event is established to help you speak English with full confidence and hence improve it. So please do not hesitate to register!
5. What do I need to bring?
You just need to bring a notebook and some stationery (pens, pencils, rulers, etc.), or a laptop.
For those who do not register for lunch, it is advisable that you bring your own packed lunch because the allotted time for lunch break is only one hour.
6. How much do I have to pay to participate in the event?
10.000 VND, inclusive of water and materials and regardless of how many sessions/days you choose. For those who register for lunch, 30.000 VND extra is required for each meal.
7. Our credibility?
The organizers behind Project 3C, as well as DO SPEAK!, are Nha Trang students at renowned universities/colleges in the US (Cornell University, Macalester College, and Providence College) and in Ho Chi Minh City (Fulbright University, International University) who are passionate about bringing a more active education, which comprises of essential social skills, to our city, where the majority of students are academically but not socially driven. Furthermore, in 2017, our team successfully organized Model United Nations (MUN) for the first time in Nha Trang, called Nha Trang Model United Nations (NTMUN).
